She is very graceful! Pretty cool species.
-
I like how she just falls on the cricket :D

There are 8 species of Phoneutria,i was surprised to see this,i didn't know there were others like them, though as stated by DJAIMighty they're not as brightly coloured like the Keyserlingi for instance.

bad call bug...I wonder if they release pheromones to attract the prey?

hillarious, how it just falls down on the cricket. Is this ctenid as venomous as a phoneutria? And is it as agressife as a phoneutria?

@STFUbelgium No and no. Suitable for beginners too. Although it's very fast, not to be handled.

Great footage of this ctenid. It's quite interesting how very similar cupiennius is to the phoneutria spiders. Yes, both ctenids, but obviously the speed and markings and temperament. I've never seen any studies pubbed on c. salei venom, but opinion seems to favor that it's venom is probably similar in toxicity to the phoneutria sp.
I wouldn't be the least surprised. Does c. salei strike the same defense-posture as phoneutria? or is it different?

I've never seen it trying to defend itself. There's not even bright colours under the body like Phoneutrias have. It strikes to be a peaceful spider to me.
