"GOING HOME" NEVER SOUNDED BETTER; I WISH SHE COULD HAVE FINISHED IT. DEANNA MAKES YOU FEEL AS THOUGH GOING THROUGH THAT NEAR BY OPENED DOOR WOULD NOT BE SO BAD ESPECIALLY IF SHE COULD BE NEAR BY GREETING US ALONG WITH JESUS......THIS CLIP REALLY DIDN'T FIT THE MOVIE IMHO. HOWEVER, I'M EVER SO HAPPY THEY PUT IT IN THERE; SHE SINGS THIS BEAUTIFULLY. IT'S TYPICAL DEANNA DURBIN STUFF W/TEARS AND ALL. WHAT A TALENT SHE WAS AT THAT TIME. NOW MORE THAN EVER W/NO ONE LEFT, THESE MEMORIES ARE EVEN MORE TREASURED.

Usually Durbin sings soprano, even coloratura, in her movies. What I love about this song is that you can hear she was also a wonderful mezzo.

Thanks for posting this. I've always loved this scene from the film and Deanna's beautiful performance of "Goin' Home." I agree. I wish she'd finished it, or at least, recorded it.

Could you post the scene in which she sings "Clavelitos"? Not only is her vocal performance remarkble (singing all those Spanish words with such lightning fast precision), but her piano playing looks pretty good too!
