  • I have been hacking out the circuitry on the circuit board, there is an h bridge to control the tail rotor and two TO-254 N-channel MOSFETS to control the two main rotor motors. You are correct there is no gyro "chip". Apperently the gyro effect is purely mechanical. More later on what I am finding hacking this out and some possible mod's too, Stay Tuned subscribe for updates, and thanks for watching "Hamradio2008" Tom

  • you could be right close examination of the circuit board I cant find a gyro chip. more later please subscribe for updates, and thanks for the comment.

  • I considered messing with solid state gyros a few years ago when I was into high powered rocketry. They are pretty expensive and I think prices are still in the $10 range or higher. I doubt this heli has one also judging by the fact that it's tilting in the wind :) The gyro they advertise is the top 'spoke' on the prop with the weights on the end. It's the same for the small one I have. Really elegant. I actually admire such seemingly trivial mechanical solutions to pretty complex control probs.

  • Are you sure it has a true gyro built in? I suspect they are referring to the rotor being a gyro. My daughter has the same but then much smaller. Two counter rotating rotors and a small horizontal prop to tip it up and down. Amazing how they scale these things from huge to tiny.
