The cup that goes along with the water bottle could be useful for boiling if you need to. Sure it may be small amounts of water at a time but that means less heat energy to boil. You could use the bottle itself for boiling but for a small amount of water to keep you warm, the tin cup could be very useful, and you could use it to gather rain water as well.

Survival is a mindset. People panic. If you have training you are less likely to panic. It is psychologically empowering. More knowledge means having to carry less gear. But many people out there have neither. Gear is easier and faster to acquire than knowledge. PLEASE encourage your friends and family to carry the minimum of gear... first aid kits, blankets in winter, etc... in their cars. Start basic. Fuel their interest. Dispel the mystique. Make it common sense.
-peace.

AFSOC PJ. mryellow123, thank you for you feed back. You are correct that "Spot" is a cheaper "PLB" and always a good redundancy but, never a capable way for our teams to find you. ACR ResQlink 406 Personal Locator Beacon with built in 121.5 MHz homing becon is an investment on your life and your love ones hardships to follow a recovery effort than rescue. Sir, God forbid you were ever down in our OA, we would try to find you and your family is counting on us. Think about them also Sir.
