FOLD TWO DIFFERENT SHAPED CYLINDERS FROM TWO SIMILAR POSTCARDS. WHICH WILL HOLD MORE SAND? WONDERFUL COUNTER-INTUITIVE EXPERIMENT!! SCIENCE TOYS, SIMPLE SCIENCE, SCIENCE EXPERIMENT, TOYS FROM TRASH
the two same post cards can only make sure that the surface area of the two cylinders are the same, but the radius of the two cylinders can not be the same unless the post cards are square. thus the volume of the two cylinder cannot be the same if the post card is just a rectangle.
This happens because the base of both the cylinder on which sand is filling is not same although the two cylinder are made out of same size postcard.
