critter 2: after seeing phil cuzzi blow that call in the yanks twins playoff game, do you think they could maybe use it on plays like that? i have umped and if i make the wrong call that effects the game, i would not be mad if it got looked at and was overturned. its going to be proven later that i am wrong and makes me look even worse if the right call was not made
instant replay ruins the spontaneous joy of your team winning. look at Favre's throw at the end of the game. You can't really celebrate.
In the end, it is not just about "getting the call" right. That's what you want with a tax attorney. This is a GAME!!!! It's supposed to be great joy or great dissappointment, not meticulously dissected on a Petry dish!!!! It's life, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
clearly you never umpire in your life dude. true baseball fans don't want that.
True baseball fans understand good and bad calls happen human error is part of the game the other thing. you really should umpire a game before doing any criticism
They should expand the replays for close baserunning plays. If they've done it for homeruns/foul balls, they can for baserunning calls. Balls/strikes; no. But umps get too many base-running calls wrong. When the umps can't do their job properly, it's time for a hindsight view.
I think it's funny that you use the word "clearly". You are saying the umpire "clearly" blew the call....in slow motion. If you watched the game, then you'd know that in regular speed, it's not so clear. That's a profesional umpire with good position that thought he made the right call, are you going to have a replay after every play? Baseball is not football where 10 bodies can be in the way, let the umps do their job, stay in the arm chair, stop playing replays on the jumbotron, no issue.

unlock09- not going to happen and that take way to long. without the replay in slow motion as someone else stated you would of never know the call.
here the other thing umpire view was block. If you can't sleep over one call its stupid your taking it way to serious.
Instant replay was used cause of the baseball fields design.

Though I'm unaware of any sport with instant replay facilities, I would argue it takes away from the purity and naturality of the sport.
Making everything high tech and what have you wastes time, and makes the game seem colder, and less natural.
