There's an old story about an F-16 pilot headed back to base and he calls the tower and asks for priority handling due to engine problems. (The F-16 is a single engine aircraft.) The tower responds by telling him that he's #2 for landing behind a B-52 with an engine out. Annonymous voice on frequency says, "Oh no, not the dreaded 7 engine landing."

Yeah, recently a retired Air Canada pilot back in the days when it was "Trans Canada Airlines" quipped that it was the nicest 3-engine airliner that ever existed. I believe, and I'm probably wrong, that John Travolta owns and flies a Lockheed Constellation.

@hlaltimus limping? Good luck finding one landing with all 4 engines. Limping would be 3 out of 4 dead, and one on fire.

Well, it was in 1958, and I was 3, but I distinctly remember looking out the left hand window (we were sitting just in front of the wing) and telling my dad that one of the engines wasn't working. One of my earliest memories.
I think that the super Connies are the best looking airliners ever made, and right up there with Spitfires, P-51's, and Mosquitoes as most attractive airplanes ever made.
