"The Thin Red Line" (1998, directed by Terrence Malick) is one of the most notable anti-war movies. Beside of being a moving story focused on personal tragedies of soldiers on both sides, it's also a beautiful conjunction of picture and music.

In my opinion "TRL" is the best Hans Zimmer's composition. Unfortunately, the oficcial release of the soundtrack didn't include some bits from the movie. Here's a compilation of best of them.

0:00 : The melody in the beginning of the film, ordinary life of the Melanesian people (film version of "Requiem, Op. 48: In Paradisum" by Gabriel Fauré)
1:57 : Pvt. Witt in the village (Jisas yu holem hand blong mi - instrumental version)
3:17 : Chat between Witt and Welsh (God yu tekkem laef blong mi - instrumental version)
5:05 : Death of Pvt. Witt

This clip is just a presentation of unreleased film music. Tracks have background SFX, and screens are in low resolution. All rights belong to 20th Century Fox.

"Cienka czerwona linia" (1998, reż.: Terrence Malick) to jeden z najbardziej wybinych filmów antywojennych. Oprócz bycia poruszającą historią osobistych tragedii żołnierzy po obu stronach konfliktu, jest to piękne połączenie obrazu i muzyki.

Moim zdaniem, "Cienka czerwona linia" jest najlepszą partyturą Hansa Zimmera. Niestety, oficjalne wydanie ścieżki dźwiękowej nie zawierało kilku fragmentów obecnych w filmie. Oto kompilacja najlepszych z nich.

0:00 : Melodia na początku filmu, codzienne życie Melanezyjczyków (filmowa wersja "Requiem, Op. 48: In Paradisum" Gabriela Fauré)
1:57 : Szer. Witt w wiosce (Jisas yu holem hand blong mi - wersja instrumentalna)
3:17 : Rozmowa Witta i Welsha (God yu tekkem laef blong mi - wersja instrumentalna)
5:05 : Śmierć szer. Witta

Filmik ten jest jedynie prezentacją niewydanej muzyki z filmu. Ścieżka dźwiękowa zawiera efekty dźwiękowe tła, a screeny są w niskiej rozdzielczości. Wszystkie prawa należą do 20th Century Fox.

  • Oh I have it now luckily. About three years ago, someone put the 8 minute movie version of Promentory on here. Boy was I happy!

  • @soundtracks94 Ah, ok. As for "The Thin Red Line" complete score, the blu-ray was released recently (September 2010 I think) and I've read somewhere it has isolated score. Unfortunately, I do not own it, so I don't know whether it's true or not.

  • It really is a crime that this music was not released as this soundtrack was arguably the best orchestral work Zimmer has ever composed. While the CD recording was great, the last four minutes of this are absolute Zimmer gold. Thank for posting this.

Personally, next to the final fight music from Last of the Mohicans, and the synthesized score by Vince DiCola in Rocky 4, this was the most desired unreleased music I can recall.

  • @soundtracks94 You mean that reprise of "The Kiss" in the scene when Magua kills Uncas and is then defeated by Uncas' father (when the main theme kicks in)? It's present on the complete/bootleg score. I personally love the re-recording done by Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Battle tracks like "Fort Battle" or "Massacre" are much better orchestrated imo (especially percussion section). And no synths is another plus for me.

  • @inukaisan1 Wg mnie ost warto posiadać chociażby dla przepięknych 'Journey to the Line' i 'The Village'.

  • @2URBO2 ....it's called self-sacrifice bud, he drew the ire of the enemy and delayed their discovering his comrades, and gave his life saving theirs.

  • @JordoSummach ...I don't think he really wanted to die either, but instead sacrificed himself for his friends and comrades. This is without a doubt, one of the best movies about war that has ever been made, as it shows the personal and emotional side of the men who have to fight in a war. As a christian man, it was refreshing to see another portrayed so well as in Pvt Witt's character, a true shining example of God's love for us.

  • After going through war, this is peace at last...I become numb listening this, transported to another world as heavenly as can be...

  • amazing, amazing, amzing!!!

  • when i heard this i thought about death and heaven for some reason

  • does anyone knows, im searching for long time a soundtrack, i don't know wich was the movie, but I know it was about Vietnam and some soldiers were trying to resist on a hill attacked from all parts by vietnamese commies... the song was an asian fiddle... i can't find it...is it from this movie??

  • The picture of Witt at around 5:10 captures the entire movie :)

  • @mistrzyoda87 One of my favororite films of all time. Never knew that is what the Japanese solier says. Makes the story of Pvt Witt that much more tragic.

  • I think the music from the start may also of played in The legend of Bagger Vance, it's definitely similar...
