@WeAllBeTV well thank goodness for reading the responses. next time just post them differently. it makes sense. who cares if she looks close to the woman. thanks for this regardless.

This a great tribute to an influential American talent. I think it's so ironic that so many people don't know her today.

Thanks for this, Florence was my Great Aunt, my grandmother Olivia's younger sister, so I find this exciting....What a great lady she was!
-
Who was the little girl in the beginning?
-
She was a malato. And I don't know about being black and proud, proud of what?
-
Indeed!

This is really nice, but I agree w/ Dalila141 in this video from 3:20 until 4:28 that is NINA MAE MCKINNEY dancing to "Swanee Shuffle" from the 1929 film, Hallelujah. The first black film in sound produced by King Vidor.

That is Nina Mae McKinney...Unfortunately there is no known footage of Florence Mills...She was primarily a stage performer...There are also no recording of her voice either although it was said that her voice had an unique birdlike quality... The reason why I use footage of Nina Mae McKinney is because she actually comes close to resembling Florence in talent and spirit...
