H: Why are hydrocarbons insoluble in water: Because hydrocarbons are non-polar and water is polar and, y'know, like dissolves like.
I: Why are insects attracted to light: This is hard to answer because there are lots of theories but no one is 100% sure.
X: Why are X-Rays dangerous? Because they can penetrate deeply into our bodies, and yet still interact with them. So they can potentially knock atoms out of place in your DNA, causing mutations which could cause cancer and other disease.

Yawns are contagious because we subconsciously think there is not enough oxygen when we see someone else yawn, so we yawn in order to get more oxygen, basically it's a survival instinct!

flamingos aren't pink because they eat pink food that's completely false becuase their staple diet is algae, it has to do with the enzyme break down of carotenoids in their food.
"Enzymes in the liver break down the carotenoids into the pink and orange pigment molecules deposited in the feathers, bill, and legs of the flamingos. " -About.com
flamingos that eat more shrimp/other fish than algae are a more pale colour, so it's not got to do with pink food.
