What a loss - so glad she came back to pay tribute to Burt Janch in this documentary. Why did she go in to obscurity? I dont think she realised what a unique beautiful sound passed from her lips. Some say she didnt like the sound of her recorded voice! Or maybe it be the hedonistic influences and times she endured...? Whatever I love her sound - her songs... "You go your way my love...."
Anne Briggs!... what a rare utopian introspective treasure.. .... I know about her and have always known about her..but know so little about her.. I know all the second wave folkies who have done her versions and have always asked them where can i see Anne Briggs..what happened to her.. she is like Richard Farina or Jackson C. Frank in the U.S....underappreciated geniusses...is there any contact information for her?
I like the way Anne sings "Go Your Way" here a lot more than her earlier recordings. It's very frustrating just to hear a couple of lines. I hope there is a recording somewhere. Searches bring up trillions of the older versions and I'm still looking.
Great posting. Thanks. But where can we see the rest?
