Panasonics AVCCAM line of affordable HD camcorders and recorders offer incredible advantages over tape-based, MPEG-2 HDV systems. Utilizing advanced AVCHD compression, AVCCAM camcorders offer ultra-reliable, solid-state recording and are not subject to the wear, temperature sensitivity, shock and vibration of older tape-based systems.A key benefit of AVCCAM is that, unlike HDV, you can play it directly from an SD card in a growing number of highly-affordable consumer HD video players, including Blu-ray HD disc players, Sony PlayStation 3, plasma displays, as well as PCs with AVCHD-compatible viewer software.

  • @OSG20000 // I do not understand how they will sell this product through Youtube! After watching this, I'll buy a camcorder because it seems my uncle filming the family birthday parties.

  • @smithdigitalvideo i know ur comment is 5 months old but yes you can make one if u havent made one yourself its called a fig rig

  • Regular AVCHD has 17MBbits/sec rate as opposed to HDV's 25Mbits/sec. I believe AVCCAM increases the rate to 24Mbits/sec. Of course, the MPEG-4 compression is more processing intensive, so you'd need to invest in a higher end laptop to be able to edit your videos in real time. So yeah, theoretically the quality of AVCCAM should be better than HDV, but AVCCAM could be more pain in editing. Anyway, I'd take 144Mbits/sec HDCAM anytime over these two.

  • Well I have a AVCHD camera and a mpeg2 and i feel the mpeg2 is better quality. but its not HDV so i guess this is a completely different thing?

  • yes it surely does. all my work is from the hmc-150
