I cant remember if there were any other figures. I did have a shit ton of action sets with differant items powered by his backpack. On top of that, I actualy had several Superjoes purchased back in 77 I believe that my grandmother kept sealed. She gave them to me, along side an orange jumper real haired Joe in the box, when I was older. Lost EVERYTHING in a house fire in Detroit alongside 10 guitars, baby grand piano 14,000 comics, a ton of toys...lots of mego, joes, battle star, star wars ect
I remember this notion of 'oil embargo' being the reason, but I really think that's a red herring. They weren't canceled until well after the embargo - like 1977. Other weird thing is they came out with a bunch of new characters like eagle eye and atomic man right before it was dumped. It continued in UK after it was canceled here. Best story I've heard is that the Star Wars figures prompted them to make the small ones instead.
You mentioned the vehicles! Tell me I'm remembering correctly. My Super Joe had this thing that you could transform. It was a plane, a helicopter, a space ship, a land vehicle, it had pontoons so it could float. Any idea where I can at least just see a photo of one?
I still love this line best of all GI Joe lines..too bad they deteriorated.
Sigma Six is my second fave line.
Super Joe was so creative, but why did it end? And why is it almost NEVER mentioned in any books? And Will HASBRO ever make repros? I never got Luminous, and would LOVE to have a non-deteriorated version of him!(or even deteriorated...i could try to fix)
i had the black SUPER JOE commando, and this character called the shield, from that set of SUPER JOE'S . I NEVER COULD GET MY PARENT TO SPEND MONEY ON THE OTHER FIGURES, THEY SAID I HAD WAY TOO MANY ACTION FIGURES ANYWAY. THANKS FOR THIS MEMORY!
My best friend had both of them. Me and my mom would go shopping and we could never find those two figures. This was back when Hasbro shrunk them down due to the 70s oil embargo.I had Major Mike Powers (Hasbro's answer to The Six Million Dollar Man).I also had some of the other Adventure Team talking Joes with flocked hair/beard and the African American one with a tan uniform and flocked hair/beard and the Joe with the Orange uniform--not to mention the vehicles. Those were the days!!

I still have the GOR figure in very good conditions; I suppose it's very hard to find now... even on eBay!
