An early Air China domestic flight to Xining where our 17-day Khampa exploration of Eastern Tibet was to begin. But first, into Air China's very nice lounge, a perk when you stick to one airline.

Air China is a member of the Star Alliance and United Airlines happens to be our carrier of choice. With United Gold status, we can enter any of their member's lounges when flying with them, even Economy Class. (Yes, we were flying Economy today.) On to Xining...
