A1 Locomotive Trust Limited A1 Class No: 60163 Tornado rushes south through New Barnet at the head of the Steam Dreams Up Cathedral's Express railtour from York to London-King's Cross on Thursday 24th November 2011. The Down train ran this morning behind a diesel as far as Peterborough where Tornado took over. This is the first mid-week steam run on the East Coast Main Line since mid-September 2011. Steam had been banned following Sir Lamiel causing lineside fires in early-September.
Tornado was going pretty quick and was on the Up fast line. Good going as just 1 mile back Tornado had stopped at Hadley Wood to drop off some passengers. The driver gave a good whistle on the approach to the station.
Tonight's run was the 10th Up London run made by Tornado this year. The first was back in mid-June when Tornado hauled the Canterbury Tornado from Canterbury-West to Willesden South-West Sidings.
New Barnet has 4 platforms. Platforms 1 and 2 are the Up island platform. I was filming half-way along Platform 2, the Up fast. The Up relief, Platform 1 is served by First Capital Connect trains from Welwyn Garden City to London-King's Cross or, during the week Moorgate. Platforms 3 and 4 is the Down Island with Platform 4 receiving the Welwyn Garden City stopping trains.
New Barnet was opened, as Barnet with the line on 7th August 1850. It was built as a simple two-track layout and the Down and Up Platforms were staggered. The station is some distance from the Barnet town centre, now served by London Underground-Northern Line's High Barnet station
.

Hope you enjoy and please give me your feedback.
