Me vs starling vs cat

i had a starling (bird) trapped in my fireplace for a day. when i thought he was gone i attempted to light a fire. i discovered him behind the logs and he got loose, wreaking havoc in my kitchen and bathroom.
with some prep i got him out. i'm hiding mostly behind a sheet sealing off the up- and downstairs. scourge flushes him out finally.
