Hello World! This is my first ever video submission and please forgive me for it not being the best quality. This was taken from an album made in approximately 1959 by my uncle, Jim Aldridge, when he was only 22 years old and performing with a group called 'The Pacers'. He sings as well as plays the sax, and I think you'll agree that he has the meanest sax sound you'll ever hear and can be compared to the best, and you should hear him play now! Jim Aldridge has been somewhat of a local celebrity here in his hometown of Little Rock and North Little Rock, AR since the 50's, and he was at the height of his career in the 80's. He has known, met, and performed with many great artists over the years including, but not limited to, Elvis, Conway Twitty, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Willie Nelson, just to name a few. Jim Aldridge was once a finalist on the show 'You Can Be a Star' (precursor to 'Nashville Star' ) with host Jim Ed Brown (1983-1989). He has recorded many albums over the years and still records and performs today. Jim Aldridge still sings and wales on the sax at the young age of 72 in local venues and tours regularly with 'The Pacers'. Yes, they got back together and perform as the only original surviving group or artist from Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. I hope you enjoy the song and picture of my Uncle, Jim Aldridge, and if you like what you hear and want to hear more from his collection of instrumentals and/or want to hear what he sounds like when he sings then please let me know and I will do my upmost to post more videos. Thanks for watching!

  • Does he still play anywhere around Little Rock? I am only an hour away and would love to hear him live.

  • Yes he does! He mainly plays with the Pacers now. I 'll try to find out where he is playing in or around Little Rock next and let you know.

  • Thanks iriseart! Yes, he is my uncle. I've always loved the sax too! You can find more of him playing on Youtube if your interested. Just search for "The Pacers" or "Sonny Burgess & the Pacers" and look for the sax player. He's 73 now and still plays his heart out!
