A German Folk Song about the true friendship. Combined with photos from the demolition of the "Palast der Republik", November 2008. The lyrics are difficult to translate - sorry for all the mistakes.

  • @SiegfriedBLN Dankeschön. Gruß Martin

  • very beautiful. lg. siegfried

  • @winterweib You are right, it was not necessary to break off the palace. But after 1945 many old buildings was destroyed because modern architects wanted to build modern buildings. Many people hated the architecture of the German Empire because of they gave the Kaiser the blame for the world war I (and so for the world war II). The communists was very assiduously to destroy symbols of the German Empire and the church. But they wasn't the only one.

    P. S. Ulbricht was not "mine".

  • @MartinRaetzJr @MartinRaetzJr The old emperor-palace wasn't ugly but very beautiful.I am sure you never heard about the parts likeSchlossapotheke,Haus der Herzogin and so on.The Schloss stood there for half of the millenial until your Ulbricht decided he needs a place for his soldiers to creep in the Sowjet's back. The Schloss wasn't so destroyed, there were still exibitions, even people lived there. Warschau reconstructured its Schloss too,GDR didn't.For heavens sake the ugly 70s crap has gone.
