@bullzrul23 P.S. it is a fairly common and simple procedure that is done for a multitude of reasons

It's called crown lengthening because you are lengthening the crown of the tooth. the crown of a tooth is the part of a tooth that is above the level of the bone. i.e. a tooth is composed of a root and and a crown, and through the procedure you lengthen the crown portion of the tooth

so have you ever had any problems with that tooth since then?

And, is this guy talking to his therapist while rolling the camera?
He probably voted for Obama.

Thanks for posting this. I'm stressed out right now because I've been told I need one of these and everything I'm reading on line says it is very freaking painful.

Good lord, I could not sit through this entire clip. Please post Cliff's Note version.

You visited a periodontist. You had to wear a hat because the dentist is basically making an incision and peeling the gingiva away from your bone so he can see your teeth and the bone. The bone is then cut down to 'lengthen' the tooth. In essence the tooth is not being lengthened, it is more like the bone is being cut away with a bur to expose more of the tooth so the new crown can stay on the tooth after it has been made.

Good luck with that. It's not fun -- but it's not as awful as you might think, either.

I basically had crown lengthening on my lower left teeth from the incisor on over. I had to get all of my teeth crowned because my enamel never formed properly, and it took the dentist well over a year to get around to my bottom left teeth - and by then decay had gotten under my temporary crowns down there. So I had to have crown lengthening before I could get the permanent crowns put on.
