John Barrymore was such a handsome man.

it's a fortunate thing that we all can even view this movie. It was lost for over 50 years. Then in the 70s it was rediscovered disassembled in bits & pieces of rolled film. The director Al Parker was still alive in the 70s & assisted in the film's reconstruction, a lot of it from memory. Parker died in the late 70s. Kino at least marketed the reconstructed film on DVD, (this is a clip from that DVD), but gosh I wish they would get rid of that huge logo.

I haven't seen this version yet by Kino but I notice that it only runs for 85 mins. the Videobrary version I have is 103 mins. Anyone know if any scenes missing or just been speeded up?

I was able to view this movie thanks to TCM airing it during their Sherlock Holmes movie marathon Christmas Day 2009. It's pretty good.
