Hello... this is a "how-to" to show a technique that I use that sorta simulates a linen mat around your paintings, whereby you can make an inexpensive frame look really nice... quickly. The painting used was my last video from Saturday (Feb 28, 2009) paintout at Stinson park:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5iynZNVfgg

It is a 22x28 with 2 inch border making the actual painting 18x24. I use this technique on tempered hardboard cut to fit thin, odd sized frames. This was taped right after painting, so my hands are still covered in paint from that overly windy day (had to catch the painting a few times... blown off the easel, and acrylic dries fast ... even on hands)

Hope this helps you, Thanks for watching

  • My art teacher painted over the masking tape w/ some white substance....sorry I can't remember the name, but when it dried it left a barrier that the paint couldn't cross....we painted it on w/ a paintbrush & it dried quickly....maybe ask an art store for what it was. It left a perfect line when the tape was removed

  • Poor flowers. Oh good you moved it.
