@maryellenks You must go to the description and put it in there. Thank you for the info, and thank you for the lovely story of Harbor. Did you ever release him? Some were questioning (below) if that is a good idea. I know you know what is best since you know him, but please let us know.

If he's 5 years old and mostly blind, why release him? He won't know how to do anything for himself and won't be able to see if danger is near. Please don't release him!

if he is partially blind, you won't release him , will you?

Thank you for taking him in and caring for him and thank the heavens he was found at all! I enjoy watching him explore his new world and he seems happy and healthy. I especially love watching him play in water, he just seems to love it!! Is that common for racoons or is Harbor's joy of water play unique? Racoons fascinate me, we don't have any where I live in Scandinavia, and Harbor is a treat to watch!! Thank you for sharing his antics with us!!

Harbor is so cute...

Won't you have to get him use to other coons an raccoon ways first. You won't release him all by himself will you?
Perhaps someone else has asked this question, but can you please give credit to the musician singing this wonderful song? What is her name and what is the name of the song?
Thank you for rescuing Harbor. It is a wonderful success story.

@CahillandDelene I thought I had done it! thanks for bringing it to my attention, it is such a lovely song. It is called "Rescued Me" and is sung by Angela Easterling. I will try to figure out a way to put it in the header of the video.

If he is going to eventually be released back into the wild, why is she cuddling with the raccoon?

@shotbyjr An animal that has been living in close proximity to humans, as in Harbor's case, needs to be slowly weaned from human contact over time. If Harbor suddenly had no contact with people at all, he would wonder why he was being punished. It's all he's ever known. When people keep wild animals in a pet-like situation, and then decide that they can make them wild again by just tossing them out the door and cutting off contact with them, it's a certain death sentence for the animal.
