Nobody liked Sutherland´s Norma in the beginings and now some of them say she was the best Norma, some other said that Caballé...and for me the best could be that soprano that make you believe that she is Norma...I don´t care who is the best.Just enjoy it or not. She could be maybe too loud, but anyway...if you enjoy it...

Not as bad as I expected, but not good by any means.

At one point, I feel, she would have been ideal for Norma...a dramatic yet flexible voice. But so many factors have made my opinion questionable. I admire this singer greatly, I can't stand it when she seems to disregard poor singing in favor of vocal power (which she still possesses).

I am a fan of Maria Guleghina, but I agree that she is abusing her vocal gifts...one of the greatest in the world. Her critics should note that she has sung some of opera's most dramatic, taxing roles ever written, so of course the wear will show. That may not make them fans, but they may understand that hers is a great voice that has been pushed to the limit. I hope Guleghina hasn't stopped training altogether...no artist should ever stop training...I love her voice very much.

Wonderful voice. Singing live for public in theater and for recording are two different arts. She is brilliant live singer reaching every single individual with her energy.

it might seem like she is loud at times, but it is the poor recording quality. very passionate, very intense, and of course very accurate coloraturas. I wish there were a real recording of this.
