because it was originally designed for FIA WRC use, not for driving 1/4Mile. There doesn't exist a single badass American V8 which comes close to keeping up a gay Evo on a rally track, even when the gay evo has 0psi boost.
They are built for different purpose :)

when you buy an evo you're not really supposed to leave it stock, give it an exhaust, injectors, fuel pump and an ecu remap/replace, wind up the boost and realize you've made the right decision.
