@socrates757 do you want to cut spending for social spending at home so that we can build an empire abroad? the downfall of every power is over extension....I agree ignorance is a problem but ignorance of history and consequences is the problem...not the debt itself...but the nature of the debt...

@dukeoforegon why do you desire to be an empire...every empire has fallen..the city on a hill is an example, untouchable; a goal for others; it is not force but a challenge on how others could be better...an empire is the forced submission of people and their lands to the conquering hordes...The Persian, Greek, Roman, Mongol, etc empries have fallen...debt? Rooted more in 'defensive' spending...used more for offensive...now we are in three conflicts...yet you talk of debt and empire.
