The worst of luck was bestowed upon us in actually GETTING to FWA 09. We left 5 hours late, and then just when we were 30 miles out from A-town (atlanta), I lock my keys in the car. I was driving & how they got into the back seat, I have no idea. But there they were... finding this out after over an hour of trying to jimmy our way into the car with a slim jim provided by the gas station attendent. He tried, and two or three people took a crack at it for over an hour and a half AT LEAST! finally I call the non-emergency number for the police apt... I have NO idea where we are I just know that we're at a Texaco Gas Station in what seems like the middle of nowhere just off of 75. A police man pulls up as I'm on the phone with the lady trying to help me. Lena goes to flag him down because he starts to drive away. The helpy-phone lady is checking to see if it's one of their cops & I didn't care it was a COP! Maybe he could help! he pulls back around & assesses the situation.
Police can't open your car doors anymore due to liabililty and lawsuits and all that crap. He doesn't have the tools to help. So he calls someone. Another cop car shows up. we have a city & two county police cars at the gas station. One is carrying a crow bar, another one of those things that's flat (not the over-grown coat hanger) you slide it down in the door & it jimmies the lock.
I'm over joyed when someone (can't recollect who, now) comes in the station (i was looking for pliers) & tells me they have it opened!
Thank you random guy Moving from Louisianna! I salute you! He opened my door with the tools the policemen had.
We get to FWA, And it's 10:50. Registration closes at 11pm that day. Taryn has friends on the staff so they keep registration open for us. (YAY!) Taryn is the Wah (red panda) that's traveling with us. He was such a big help even though he didn't really do anyhting physically to help. He helped everyone keep their cool.. as lena is too easily excitable. X.x (understatement) Taryn was smart enough to get his stuff outta the car before we locked it & ran to registration. we parked on the wrong parking deck level & couldn't figure out how to get into the hotel. SO we had to walk out of the exit in the BACK of the building & AROUND the building, UP a hill & through the front.
I say Taryn was smart enough..because after we go register & find my buddy we're rooming with (Witt Shartzer)
We go back to the car to find.. the doors won't unlock.
The key turns but nothing happens! (Not again!) my driver's side lock is busted on the outside (won't lock or unlock) from a few years before of an unprofessional trying to open my car for me.
Witt's wonderful & tries to get into the car through the trunk.. for over an hour straight.. we all fail & then Lena calls he sleep-wriddled dad & gfet her AAA info. A lcoksmith is there within the hour (It's past 1 am now & bell hop left about an hour before with a $15 tip for being a good sport) Lock smith gets there & opens the lock in a few minutes. AND it's FREE *sigh*
you may wonder why we didn't call Lena's dad sooner?
He's very protective, she's in atlanta (spending monies) and at a furry con. yeah. It's just that hard to tell them that.
There's really nothing to worry about at these things. As at all events containing adults, there will be parties going on.. eh'specially with the college age kids. they are in the rooms, not the gemeral areas. There are strict rules inforced on even such simple things as PDA between couples. I mean you guys go to cons. you all know this.
nice butt :P
