Bridging Greatness: The Hoover Dam Bypass and Colorado River Bridge

This presentation provides an overview of the Hoover Dam Bypass project and describes the planning, design and construction of the river bridge. The bypass relocates highway traffic between Nevada and Arizona from the dam to a new 3.5-mile high-speed facility with a major bridge nearly 900 feet above the Colorado River. HDR managed the design of the entire project, shared design of the river bridge and provided detail design for the Nevada approach and five other approach bridges.
