Defense Technology International (DTI)'s Ares weblog [http://aviationweek.com/ares ] provides a daily update on international defense technology news. One of the stories posted Nov. 29, 2007 revealed how ship helicopter operating envelopes can be expanded beyond the limits set by the helicopter manufacturer's manual -- thanks to a simulator-based measurement technique developed by the Amsterdam-based National Aerospace Lab (NLR). This video, courtesy of NLR, shows the difficult job faced by helicopter pilots when having to land on the rolling deck of a frigate in adverse weather conditions.
