I liked it. I admit that it gets redundant if the colony gets too big, though.

Most people hated this game but there's a group of players such as me who think it was great, and it was.

Oh man, please, remake this game... Will be the most awesome game in earth ;---;

Most likely that when Earth got struck by those two asteroids, it not only cause massive destruction, it changed Earth itself to the point that it cannot support life anymore by those impacts.

if they are going to a dead planet to begin with why not just go back to earth after the asteroid hit, it would seem all the same and you could just skip traveling light years looking any other planet.

I remember some non-released backstory to this that knocked Earth into the sun or something...if I find out I'll be sure to get back to you!

Sure that would make sense but I don't remember that part but that would make sense. One thing I remember from Outpost 1 was that if you choose the wrong solar system you would lose the game at the begging of the game.

As I said, non-released backstory. If I figure out where I read it and if the source was valid I'll tell you. :)
Man, it's been forever since I played Outpost 1, hah. But remember, we're talking about Outpost 2 here. :)
