Junior Recital, Indiana University

----------------

The Garden of Eden is a suite of four rags for the Piano (1 Old Adam, 2 The Eternal Feminine, 3 Serpents Kiss, 4 Through Edens Gates) that tells the story of the Fall through ragtime. The Serpents Kiss depicts the snakes various attempts of enticing Eve to eat the apple. From an excited chattering to calm wooing or from a hot-tempered rage to tap dancing, the snake tries everything in his bag of tricks. Evil has never quite been as entertaining and witty as underneath Bolcoms compositional pen.

  • Did you play the whole Suite for your recital? By the way, wonderful playing! I'm planning to study this next year :)

  • @mangiacaprini14 Have lots of fun with this snazzy set of pieces! They bring a different joy to practicing :) I didn't play the whole suite in my recital, since I played it as a closing number after Brahms op. 118. Another day!

  • Hi. I like your take on this piece. I just did the 2 piano version in Arizona for my Master's. Again, congrats on the fine performance.

  • @goofruss Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I look forward to checking out your video once I figure out why shockwave keeps crashing on my computer.

  • I'm glad it brings you such joy! The guy who walks in is my studiomate, and we planned it together because the music calls for whistling (which I have tried in vain to figure out).

  • @5678Kirill Actually this piece calls for everything that she and the boy did in the video except for the pointing of course

  • Wonderful. I love this piece.

  • Amazing perfomance! I simply adore the resolution part at 3:30, makes me almost cry every time I hear the two greacefull melodies blending with each other... Although all the stompin at 4:02 off stage is kind of rude, and the whistling... Sereously, some guy walks in and points a finger at you?
