  • That sounds really good; I was watching another video and this guy took out the cat. and it almost sounded the same. I'm putting on my baffle this weekend and i was thinking about putting taking out the cat., but after this, I think i'll leave it in. ...your bike sounds good, by the way, I can't wait to put mine off (I have a 2005 R1 also)....DId you original baffle have any welds that you had to grind out, or just the rivets?

  • Thx for the compliments.

Yes the baffles are titanium welded in. They need to be drilled or cut out. That was the worst\hardest part. If you remove the cat, you need to modify the fuel flow. So get a PCIII or similar to modify.

  • @Motofixxer ...After hearing how your bike sounds, I'm not messing with the cat...did you put all the wrapping paper back on the aftermarket baffles also?

  • I got muffler wrap with the baffle kits I got. I just wrapped it around then used wire wrapped around the packing. Some have filled the rest of the can with packing. I didn't, I just wrapped it around and secured it

  • did you gut out the cat?

  • No not yet, not recommended till you have a Power Commander or another way to modify the fuel, which I don't have yet.

  • Nice bro. I got my race baffles from A and R mootorsports. I've got an 05 R1 as well but unfortionately I'm in the marine corps and am at training right now. That bike is insane! Although cutting the welds out of the exhaust cans with a $40 dribel sucked lol the sound is worth it

  • @descern1

You will likely notice a power difference. The surge at 7k rpms is gone. It's just smooth and powerful the whole range. I still have my Cat in, so I don't know the sound difference with it out. I suspect it will change some. If you remove the Cat you need to address the lean issue with a PC III or something similar, from what I'm told.

  • just found out that the cat on my bike was already gutted so with the baffles it sounds the same

  • Yes more performance, much better sound. Much cheaper than aftermarket cans.
