A tip for your puff is 2purchase a knee high, cut the leg off of a black stocking, or a black shoe string that way u Control the position & tightness* opposed to a headband. My head is a lil larger too. So it might be more helpful to your mother & sister.

I like the way I did my puffs before but your method is the BOMB!
My hair looked even more polished and neat than before by wrapping the slicked back portion of my hair with a scarf and letting the rest curl up by the steam from my shower. Thanks

@naturalessence15 You can usually find those scarves at any beauty supply store. Usually they have a description of the size on the packet.
