  • I have this knife as well as a Spyderco tenacious and Persistence. Both Spydercos are better in litteraly every way. There is a reason the Vex has been discontinued. It is my tool box knife.

  • the tenacious is lighter faster and stronger period

  • the benchmade is 8Cr14MoV, The Tenacious is 8Cr13MoV

  • They're about equal in performance and price. The differences are essentially aesthetic.

  • So this knife is basically a black coated Tenacious with a Benchmade logo on it?

Same materials, about the same size, almost identical pocket clips, same bushings, same opening hole, very similar blade shapes...

    Which would you recommend?

  • Recently bought the Vex Tanto. Amazing knife, and I will continue buying Benchmade until I die.

    Great video as well.

  • Enjoyed your review. I ordered one yesterday and can't wait to receive.

  • Great review.

  • I have this knife and love it. it has NO blade play what so ever. it is sharp from the factory but I prefer spyderco's grind angle and feel they are sharper out the box. but the vex just feels better in the hand which is why I carry it.

  • I just ordered one to have one. I like the coating, and the blade is wicked sharp - but the spyderco is wicked sharp too. The jimping is LOADS better on the Tenacious, and thumbhole placement and slightly lighter weight lends to better ergos, in my opinion.

Bottom line: the Vex is a great bargain price knife, but the Spyderco has better ergonomics IMO. Put the blade coating from the Vex on the Tenacious, and you'd have a real winner for a bargain-priced tactical backup knife.
