  • I get mine from local pet stores. Then I freeze them, rinse them off, and bake them for a few hours!

  • budtheman1234 you can put them in a clear plastic bag and place them in direct sunlight. The sunlight will quickly break down their wax layer and they will dessicate

  • @JohnnyFedora what do they taste like? if you say chicken i will kill a bunny

  • @potatoeman36 They have an almost nutty taste. I would go for almond or maybe walnut. Spare the bunny...unless we're gonna cook it up next!

  • I use these videos to emphasize points in a semester long class that I teach about insects. I have taught about the benefits of entomophagy for the last 10 years.

  • Yes! I get mine from Petco/Petsmart etc...

  • That you for freezing them, I hate seeing people throw them in the pan still alive.

  • You can breed your own- so Johnny, getting them fro a pet store and breeding works? Can you prepare anything with the adult beetle? Thanks, dude.

  • is there a certain way id have to prepair cricket ? usually with grass hopper i pull out the head and all the insides come out . i do that just cause one man told me of the possibility of tape worms . but i really want to try meal worm and cricket . also can i just wash and cook any live meal worm from pet stores and online reptile feed shops ? sorry for all the Q's ;3

  • You could just drop the mealworms in a bucket of hot water, they shit themselves which gets rid of their shit.

  • @JohnnyFedora: Can you get Sago Worms and Bamboo Worms there too? :)

  • @PikminGhost They absorb the flavors you cook them with, I used margerine(didn't have butter) and garlic salt, they tasted like crunchy pop corn.

  • My teacher cooked up a few for his students to eat. Only me and another guy ate them. They tasted like old beans : P

  • Thanks for this video..!its exactly what i was looking or..im about to try my first few mealworms with a friend tonight =)

  • I remember eating one raw once, it tasted like sawdust xD

do they taste diferent once they are cooked, or do you need to "clean" their digestive tracts first with cornmeal or something?
