Re-release trailer for the 1939 "Three Mesquiteers" western, OVERLAND STAGE RAIDERS, starring John Wayne, Ray "Crash" Corrigan and Max "Alibi" Terhune. Wayne, after a brief stint at Universal starring in six non-westerns for former Monogram producer Trem Carr, Wayne returned to Republic Pictures in 1938 to replace Bob Livingston as "Stoney Brooke" in the studio's popular "Three Mesquiteers" westerns, based on the characters created by William Colt MacDonald. Halfway through the release of the Mesquiteers westers, the Duke starred in John Ford's classic western, STAGECOACH, and, as they say, the rest is history. Also, OVERLAND STAGE RAIDERS marked the last film appearance of Louise Brooks. One of the screen's most fascinating figures, the toast of the silent screen and an international star of great magnitude, Ms. Brooks' film career dwindled to support roles in the late 1930s. She left the screen to paint and write, authoring over 25 books, including the memorable autobiography, LULU IN HOLLYWOOD.

Not a peek at, not even a mention of Louise Brooks in her last Hollywood film. Sad.
