This is just a boring pointless video clip of my 1877 cent. The guy at the NGC table at the coin convention said it was a VG-10 grade but that seems high to me.

  • That penny keeps going up in price, about 2 years ago i saw dealers selling them around seven hundred dollars, last week i saw one of the same grade for nine hundred.

  • @ClassicRockfan79 Yes "key date" coins are always a good investment. I was going to take it to the big 3 day coin convention last weekend and turn it over to PCGS to be "slabbed" and graded but got lazy. :-)

  • its fake

  • Why would you think it is fake?..It`s only an $800 coin..It`s not like I said I had a 1913 Liberty nickle :-)

  • 1877 indian heads are worth like $800

  • Yes at the least. A dealer at a show offered me $700 for it a few months ago but if I sold it to collector I`m sure I could get more. The guy at the PCGS table at the show said he would grade it VG8 if it was submitted to them.

  • I found an 1877 Indian Head while running by my school track :)

  • @ClassicRockfan79 Only if it's in good condition. If it's faded or banged up in any way, then it's...worthless...and just a penny that's different than the rest.

  • @SaraTGinMD lazy is not always a bad thing, be lazy when you get the chance. lol. Ive wanted an 1877, ive seen a few, but just havent forked over the cash for one yet, plus some people are trying to sell fakes, most of the reproductions have the word [copy] on the back, but lots do not, so im just waiting for the right chance to buy. Also the 1909 S indian is selling for a really big price too, Do you have a 1909 s ?

  • @fm607216 Hello. Thank you for commenting. Actually the coin is a nice chocolate color. Unfortunately my webcam seems to give everything an odd yellow tint. Maybe it`s my "Energy saver" bulbs. I showed it to the guys at the PCGS table at the last convention and they seemed to feel it would be VG-8. I think I`m a bit stricter than them and felt it was just a G-6

  • Hi Sara

looks like someone along the way may have cleaned this coin. This will affect its value. Look for details,i.e. "Liberty",

Google: Heritage Auctions coin grading tutorial. This should help you

Take it to Professional, theres a lot of copies and fakes out there.

From the video it looks good.

Beauty is in the eye if the coin holder, enjoy

  • to coin a phrase thats worth a lot of bucks.
