  • PIPE DOWN PAL. What kind of person hums at a concert? You gotta learn some manners dude.

  • haha... what kind of person taps their foot to a powerful rhythm... If you really object, perhaps I should take this one down and return it to my personal archive, for which this video was originally intended!

  • It'll never be as good as the original, obviously, so stop bitching about it and just enjoy the tribute. also, anything live is obviously more enticing than on youtube, so don't overreact to my "magical" statement. the acoustics in the hall and the audience and the overall ambience was indeed spectacular, so gimme a break.

  • I don't know why everyone's gotta talk shit. the pianist is overly ambitious maybe in his arrangements, but how many other people have tried to write and record a e smith tribute album? takes a lot of fucking balls.

  • well, this guy has won numerous awards internationally for his playing, so I think he knows his stuff. this is his arrangement of the song, so maybe you would have gone a different way with it, but I really don't think he makes a mistake in playing what he meant to play.

  • What the hell are you talking about.

  • Awesome Pianist. Give respect to him. I'm sure he has tons of respect for Elliott Smith=)

  • awesome

  • Wow this guy completely butchered this song. Im all for tastefully putting a twist on a cover. But the whole putting random notes out of key and tempo I dont think demands much artistic respect...

  • this is his own interpretation of a song he loves, it's not supposed to be exactly like the song...that is not the point of it. It isn't for everyone, but for those who understand the structure, or simply like it, it is for them also.

  • @hoomanisapedo3 i don't see how anyone could listen to an elliott smith song and not atleast start humming or something...

  • @hoomanisapedo3

The humming is fairly quiet so i don't know what the problem would be. if he was like yelling out the words to the song then that'd be rude. But he's not

  • Most people seem to be complaining about too many notes in his arrangement. It may be a bit difficult to listen to at times, but think about the song itself and the subject matter. This approach to it, where the melody is almost drowning, fits perfectly.

  • I don't like his change in tempos compared to the original, and it does sound very off in places :/ ... but everyone has their off days, he's still a great musician

  • Oh, i'm not doubting he knows what he's doing; and i'm sure his arrangement is fine, but i think at one or two points he just makes an error with the F# scale. I could be wrong, or he may be making it a minor instead of major scale or something of that nature, but in either case, it takes away from the song imo.
