someone make a cube engine now!

I'm wondering about heat dissipation. Even with cooling jackets, the ball itself seems like it would get extremely hot and break down.
-
So, when the gas explodes, these 2 parts of the ball are getting "shot" to the outside. But the ball doesn't get speed in rotation direction, or did i miss something?
-
IT works now you just need to build it.

@xstr33tr4cerx It is propelled by the force of the expanding gases pushing against the big black ball bearings, in their guide - IMHO - this sort of motor would have a very limited maximum output - a very inverse relationship to fuel/fire input to increase in ouput RPM/Torque - I guess you can think of those ball slide and grooves as having a function similar to a cam shaft, but power is derived from the guide, which cannot be sustainable.

those ball bearing had better be made out of Dragonforce

it seems realistic until combustion how is this ball being propelled by the explosion of gas and air i dont understand. next vid should describe it. and wat about oil and seal how does the ball work without seizing from heat
-
I see how its supposed to work. As the fuel ignites, it pushes the two... hemispheres?.... apart. This in turn drives the two ball shaped bearings apart on the track, which drives them further along that track, imparting rotational energy onto the driveshaft
-
it might work but the spark plug firing might be a issue at higher rpmsalso how would you keep oil out the compression chamber?

Very impressive design. The V8, Wankel & the SBall engines. What are the advantages between the three? Why would I want the SBall instead? If more fuel efficiant, then yup, I want it. :)
An interesting idea, and it looks cool in this animation, but... the friction surfaces are greater than most every engine I know of, and it seems to me the illustrated design needlessly and wastefully inducts air, compresses it, then decompresses it to recompress it. Really, the air or fuel/air intake could be simplified greatly with no moving part, just induct the air with an intake port, like the exhaust port only in reverse (on the other side of the sphere).

I do not see it working except here on paper, and as sombody said cooling
gyro effect on a bike y or n
I just don't think it would work That is the one person, find out with the thumbs
