The tables have turned from this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX9byYS3wG0. This time we are in a DP4 hauled train(Loco KJM WDP 4 20032), the Karnataka Sampark Kranti via Hubli to Pune and the train in waiting is again the JS. Only difference, this time we are in the train blasting through while the JS waits as usual!

  • Bhushan, I completely agree.karnataka is often the last priority for doubling and electrification. Couple this with people demanding new railway lines to any mofussil town, you get umpteen single lines but precious few double lines. Politicians always tend go favour west bengal as if only bengalites deserve the best in railways. Wb as a state has regressed, while rest of india is growing nicely.... Sad.

  • Continuing from where I left in my last post, I believe, that IR should at least complete the doublings on priority basis and sanction new ones with out much of hindrance between the cities of Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Secunderabad. I believe now the Pune-Solapur-Wadi-B'lore is almost completely doubled...and yet Udyan takes about 23 hours to travel 1000 kms from Mumbai to B'lore where as Mumbai Delhi Raj travels 1375 km distance in 16 hrs. Worth pondering

  • In my opinion, IR should look for fast travel between top 8-10 cities of India. There is a lot of discrepancy in travel. In past decade, things have improved for Southern Maharashtra and rest of South India, but only a little. Only, 3% electrification on total rail Km in Karnataka, dismal speed limits of around 90 kph in densely populated Kerala, no stops for superfast trains on KR in Maharashtra, complete neglect of Pune-Miraj-Bangalore route. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have their own woes.

  • I remember traveling on this route by Koyna, Mahalakshmi, Sahyadri in my older days. It used to be more of stopping and less of moving. I know that it is still the same...but more and more trains introduced on this route are forcing the trains to be on schedule. In early days, like in early 90s, a handful of trains used to ply on Pune-Miraj section. So no wonder, all of them ran awfully out of schedule...but now the things have improved w.r.t. schedules.

  • @dheerajrao Hmmm...I guess u r talking of the guy who made dirty comment. Yes, very well deserved...
