Simple install of G.Skill 2gb memory module in my new HP 110-1025dx netbook.

200-PIN DDR2 533Mhz

Only a screwdriver is required along with a little bit of thumbnails.

HP's site shows a claimed "maximum memory" capacity of 1gb. Not sure why they say this when it runs a 2gb module just like a normal laptop can.

Bought from NewEgg: Item number N82E16820231163
(as of 8/19/2009 still an active item)

  • My brother just bought the current model of this unit and it comes with Windows 7.

I believe that they produced a specific version of Windows 7 just for NetBooks that won't lug it down so much like Vista would. I've been running Win7 since the RC came out and love it.

  • Can I use vista on the netbook after upgrading to 2gb?

  • I wouldn't recommend Vista for any computer, but Windows 7 actually comes installed on these netbooks now that Vista is officially defunct.

It is of course a thinned-out version of Win7, but that means it is tailored to do what a netbook was designed for and not lug it down.

The netbook version however, is ONLY available on NEW systems and not an option from MicroSoft as an upgrade unfortunately. I suppose you COULD install a Home Premium version on a netbook, but may be a bit heavy on it.

  • this hp mini needs ddr2 sodimm ram? or just a ddr2 dimm port ram? please i need to know

  • DDR2 SO-DIMM ram

Just goto newegg . com and search for the NewEgg item: N82E16820231163

...and you'll see the exact item that I installed in this video.

I believe SO-DIMM is the designation for memory used in laptop-type devices, as opposed to DIMM is what is used in a desktop application.

  • hi, i saw the item #: N82E16820231163 on newegg . com

and it had like some black cover on it, and i was wondering if that comes off or will it fit in my hp mini 110-1025dx?

  • That's a thermal heatsink. I would not recommend removing those if they come with it.

The heatsink on mine happened to be blue, and will fit perfectly with no clearance issues at all.

  • Hi, is it possible to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB on a HP Mini 110-1125NR running windows 7 starter and the intel atom proccessor? I mailnly want to upgrade because I want to lay minecraft on my netbook.

  • can you upgrade the ram on a hp mini 110-3000 model??

  • thank you but i would rather prefer to see how you open it and then attach the RAM-module

  • @maflagulator that will be the starter edition since it only requires 1gb of ram to work which most netbooks ship with but if you can upgrade to 2gb ram then it should be faster and allow you to install another windows 7 edition such as home premium

  • Can you install a 3gb ram or is 2 the max?

  • @jaybajan It's google earth, when you load up the program that is what you see.

  • @edwardnese I would assume it would be noticeable, you're going from 1GB to 2GB that is a large difference for ram. Like going from having your RAM usage at 100% all the time to going to it being at like 60%. You could run many more programs possibly even a few games better. No major games. But if you're using the laptop for web browsing and nothing else you should notice a huge difference.

  • was the upgrade on the hp mini noticeable?

  • Looks like you live in NASA Man !! Or Some Cool Star Trek Ship !!

  • that big ass globe he has int he back ground.. wat program is it?
