  • I had a sweet Tony Rice model a few years back and always kick myself for getting rid of it. The top was extremely thin and made me nervous about cracks, but it held up well. That whole guitar would make your chest vibrate when you played it. Sometimes you don't appricieate what you have till it's gone.

  • @popoaggie That's a bummer. The Tony Rice model is an incredible instrument, and not just for bluegrass pickers. Contact us when it's time for your replacement!

  • I have a '99 Santa Cruz OM that will be with me until the end. The character of its tone and feel isn't done justice with a simple verbal description. I've played other Santa Cruz guitars that don't yet have what my OM has. But, I suspect with time they likely will have it. These are remarkably well-made instruments. I encourage anyone out there who might on the fence about investing in a Santa Cruz to take the plunge. They are very much the real deal.

  • @SantaCruzOM We just got a Santa Cruz OM in stock and it is absolutely amazing! Glad you are enjoying yours!

  • Im glad people appreciate my unlce Tonys guitar so much. He's an inspiration to many. I just got this model from my aunt which was givin to my unlce larry( tonys brother) and i cant say i could ask for anything better in my whole life. With my unlces hand written signature on it the guitar is priceless and will never be sold.

  • @MattieMoe2009 congrats on your acquisition! Tony is truly amazing.

  • @banjoplayer17 Well, that's why just about every guitar that we sell doesn't have them. That being said, some pickup systems have designed ingenius ways of incorporating pickups and pickup systems that don't have near the negative impact on tonal qualities (take a look at the McPhersons for an example). For live players sometimes pickups are a must, but for others no way- that's why we leave them out unless asked to install them. For dread-purists, it's a total no-go in most cases.

  • @cfamanager1 Agreed... people dont realize how much a pickup hurts not only the sound but resale value of a dread guitar

  • @cfamanager1 any sort of pickup CAN be used in this guitar, however, it is a choice of the owner of the guitar. some players like the convenience of plugging in and playin, others stick a high quality mic in front of them and go. no right or wrong, just preference for the given venue

  • @soundpurestudios Any sort. of pickup should not be used in these. Sounds to good to mess it up with a pick-up. Use a condensor.
