Well I haven't been to Italy since 1971, when I was twelve, so I can't comment too much on that. I'm sorry that they booed Argentine anthem, sport should not be like that. Italy like many countries has problems with prejudice and the North-South dislike runs deep. But you know I remember reading an article in an Italian newspaper imploring Italian fans to pull for Argentina in '90 final because of common ties in ancestry and culture between Italy and Argentina, so it wasn't all bad.

Well Maradona has never kept his mouth shut. But what he said was absolutely true and the truth can make a lot of people angry. But this is not Maradona's fault, this is a problem with the whole country.

When I got to Italy I had no idea about how bad the relationship between north and south was. I started in the north and when we said we were traveling to the south they told us 'what for? its full of dirty thieves, look after your wallets'. This is just not right at all.

I didn't mean Argentina should let Italy win WC in Italy, but players like Maradona should have kept his mouth shut about Northern Italy treating south like shit, it just made things worse and he knew it would work to Argentina's advantage as Italian support in Naples not nearly as strong as it was throughout in Rome. Well Italy beat you in Argentina in '78 and I SAW that one hahahahahahahahaha!

I apologize for being out of line in our previous conversation. I understand some of your points especially about Italian booing of Argentine anthem in '90. However this is not a reason to characterize Italian soccer as simply negative. In '82 I agree Brazil was the most entertaining team but Italy beat them when they had to come out to play and also beat Argentina and Germany handlily, so their victory was well EARNED. Who cares about first round?

After the total lack of respect that Italy showed throughout the 1990 world cup, what happened in the semi final was only what Italy deserved. No wonder Argentina played their best game of that world cup against Italy, they wanted to pay back the whole country for being such rude animals.

As for the argentinians, you won the 34 world cup with 2 argentinians and you won the 2006 world cup with one argentinian. Not so great after all if in 72 years you are still pinching our players.

Caniggia and Maradona show no respect? Why because they didnt roll over and let you win? I was at Italia 90 and in all the world cups i have been to I have never witnessed the lack of respect shown by the whole of Italy (except in napoli) against Argentina. Bunch of stuck up wannabes who couldnt handle that Maradona had made Napoli into a powerful team.

The whole of Italy was against us, they showed no respect every time the national anthem would be played. A country of animals!

Fuck the 82 team, your own media wanted them sent home after the first round for embarrassing the country. The best team in 82 was Brazil, everyone remembers them as the best team of that world cup. Brazil would have qualified with a draw against Italy but went for the win and they lost the game.

The best football in 82 was played by Brazil, not Italy. You think you played the best football because italian football is measured by results and nothing else.
