The composer writes the following about this work:

"'Klockorna i By' (The Bells in the Village) (1985) is a prelude to the Saturday evening service, which is always at 6 o'clock. In the beginning one hears six strokes of the church bells, calling for prayer. The Swedish title refers to the idyllic village 'By' in Dalarna in the middle of Sweden."
