The Damned's scorching cover of the Door's classic.
The video is a Frankenstein's monster cut from the Damned's OGWT appearance, The Doors original Video and Dita Von Teese's show reel, lovingingly, cut together in the spirit of ED Wood as a tribute to my 3 favourite Ds

Released as a bootleg, dubbed "Studio Version", The song was in fact recorded live in Italy.

Enjoy

  • Nice addition, always used to go down well live this version, however disappointed to see Dave getting beaten on the quad bike by Roman!!

  • I'd Love to see it back in the live set.... Lol, i reckon Mr V will have won in the end, He's pretty handy on a bike I hear

  • The Who should think very carefully about recruiting Rat Scabies. He's the only drummer on the planet who could replace Keith Moon.

  • GALAXIES beyonds the rest, The Damned are the number one.

  • Remember this on Whistle Test as a 'studio report' from the recording of Anything. Back to the studio and Sting was a guest and said something about Rat being a really great drummer nowadays. As for most of this video it's taken from the 1980's The Doors video compilation 'Dance on Fire'. I seem to recall Ray Manzarek made the LA Woman latterly.

  • Awesome vid...

  • Saw them perform this on whistle test and then at finsbury park and really thought it was going to be a single or on the album (anything), they missed a chance of a big hit in my opinion. Billy Idol got it in the charts a few years later.

  • @beanpunk I'm a huge Damned fan and its by far my least favourite album, Some of the tracks are ok but the production leaves a lot to be desired., it could have been a hell of a lot better !

  • @Kelly14UK totally agree! Anything album was pretty poor too to be honest...and i love the damned!!

  • Never cared for The Doors until I saw The Damned perform this one at the Santa Monica Civic back in 1984? Great video...never thought I'd hear The Damned perform this cover again..

  • the best cover i've heard without a doubt. Captured the true spirit of the song

  • I wish this was released

  • Why this wasn't released in 86/ 87 is BEYOND ME.

There was room for it on the Anything single and the B side they gave us was well below their usual standards. But that's just my opinion.

Saw them do this at Finsbury Park.
