Hosted by Brian Custer, this compelling half-hour SNY special exclusively follows an MLB delegation on a goodwill tour to Ghana led by Mets GM Omar Minaya, who was joined by Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, former Cubs and Giants manager Dusty Baker, former Mets pitcher Al Jackson, and outfielder Reggie Smith. "Baseball in Africa: A Diamond in the Rough" takes you from the dirt fields of Ghana, through the former slave castles situated on the Cape Coast, to a bush covered lot -- that will ultimately become Ghana's true field of dreams for young baseball players across the region.

stupid islander, it's not about the quality, of course they're way behind, but baseball needs to spread to survive, and besides, baseball is the only meritory achivemente from your "country" with not milestones in any other filed - sports, arts, science - and please don't drag music...which frankly sucks. Baseball needs to go with the flow, and it mist be supported all around the globe. Taht is teh only way to keep it for a next generation!

Wow, I don't think it needs to be said but that is the dumbest comment I've ever seen.
Baseball needs to be promoted everywhere. Cricket is promoted all around the world and pro cricketers become world hero's because they play all over the world. Our spoiled baseball "superstars" need $40k just to go to Japan and play a few pre season games. Screw that. Baseball should be a world game. Not a game limited to 1 country and then we end the season and call it the "World Series"

I bring up a good point and all I get is namecalling. Don't assume what my race or nationality is you don't know. At least present your own arguement as to why I'm wrong. Last I checked in the 1980's baseball had plenty of African American superstars Tony Gwynn, Andre Dawson, Dave Winfield Tim Raines, Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry to name a few. Face it MLB doesn't want The United States to have a good baseball program, greedy pigs like Wilpon don't want to give college kids draft bonuses.

Wow, that's the most racist and ethnocentric diatribe I've heard all day. I certainly hope you're doing something about this national slump.

Baseball in Africa? What about Baseball in America? Only 20 years ago MLB was 90% American and dominated overseas. Now the USA is getting their asses handed to them internationally. The suburbs are being taken over by politically correct soccer moms who sue schools if little Timmy gets hit in the face with a hard ball. Baseball needs to reach to all Americans first, to raise their level of play then worry about obsucure talent pools like Africa.
