I remember me and my buddies in the Linville Gorge got an ice storm the last day of the trip and since we got so damn thirsty we just got a tree with ice and put it in our water bottles, the storm much similar to that one

When you aren't accustomed to weather like this, you aren't readily equipped to prepare for it, defend against it, drive in it, or recover from it... so your statement is not particularly fair.

This is a familiar sight! Back in 96 or 97 we were hit with a powerful ice storm in Southeast Texas. We were without power for 9 days, and some parts of the region were without power for up to 3 weeks. It's a scarey sound to hear trees constantly cracking and crashing around you.
