@maxbarrass1 Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, the Codex Edition covers that as well, check it out. He had that talk with Maria but then he siad he was done with the apple and even attempted to destroy it.

@maxbarrass1 Read the codex, he managed to control the apple by interacting with it in small "doses". He kept the apple sealed and only fell to temptation in his last years when he thought "what harm was there for an old man like him?".

Altair never used the apple's powers to destroy but to learn and help others, he only used it in that way when he was informed of the way his son died. And his rage caused him to lose Maria. That caused him to be even more wary of the apple.

@LordFalzar Actualy, Altair did go crazy and obsessive over the apple. The last part of Revelations with Altair shows it through the conversation that he had with his wife at the time before what happened, happened. Ezio did not go crazy bus used the apples power to destroy his enemies.

@Airlessarab Altair remains the only person to ever find the secrets of the apple without going batshit crazy or dying. He became Master Assassin at age 24 and Leader and Mentor of the Order at 26 exceding all his predecessors. Altair got revenge for the death of Adha killing every single one involved. The Order rebelled against him a few years later on a coup and he managed to get the assassins back on his side and rebuild the Order without killing any of the innocent members. I can keep going

@Gio9icon ezio. Altair was good but ezio is the best, he Got revenge for the death of his father and brothers, got the apple of eden twice, started the assassin order all other again and found all 5 maysaf keys. Altair only did one or those.
