Then im surprised ud advise a young student that just commerce study is enough to fully prepare for the Concordia degree? I was in pure and apply sciences at Andre-Grasset and i wasnt even close from prepared for the classes! Grats for your ASA im a 2 exams away from it. I just thought that if i knew in sec 5 i wanted to be an actuary, i dont think commerce math classes wouldnt have been representative of whats ahead!
-
Of course our classes are true actuarial degrees. Our actuarial courses go in depth to understand the theory, by going through numerous proofs and examples. Just like a pure analysis course. We also have actuarial preparation labs for P, FM, MLC, and MFE. I am actually an ASA.

Also, i have been to various actuarial congres and Uqam and UdLaval are the most important actuarial unis (laval IS the most respected in quebec, Waterloo is stronger though in ontario) We have classes to prepare ourselves. Pros for Concordia : Coop program for intermenships. Conds : No exam preparation and isnt as narrow in the actuarial teaching ; meaning its more math oriented then UQam or ULaval , which are more focused on the actuarial PRACTICE side.

Well, perhaps ur CEGEP math courses were enough to go to concordia in your math degree with actuarial "specialisation" but you you guys dont have actuarial prep classes for the SOA/CIA exams. UdM and Concordia have math degrees with actuarial "specialisation". Im not saying you guys will become bad actuaries, but you must admit you degree is not an acturial degree. We have classes (both uqam and Ulaval) to prepare for the job and the SOA exams. Also, how many SOA exams have you completed?

Dude, I studied Commerce at Vanier and graduated from Concordia with Great Distinction. The CEGEP math courses in Commerce are more than enough for preparation. And UQAM is a horrible school for actuarial math...it is considered a joke.
-
well commerce in vanier will not be enough .... Id say at least get specific advance math classes. Actuarial math has nothing to do with "commerce" math. Mon homme tu vas voir les maths les plus debiles de toute ta vie! C dla finance vrm trop avancer pour ske tu vas voir au cegep. 2 meilleurs universite : Udelaval et Uqam
