Question, how long does it usually take to start displaying symptoms? I am worried because i just tried to donate plasma in my home state of Utah, and was told that since i served in the Army in Germany form 1982-1983 that i am in a high risk group of being exposed to the disease due to the fact that the Army bought contaminated meat from local farmers...therefore i am banned from donating plasma or blood in the United States! I heard the symptoms are like dementia etc. and i do suffer from PTSD

I agree more people need education on this disease, and Drs. really need to listen when people tell them how quickly thier loved ones are changing. That was the biggest obstacle for our family, I don't think they really listened or believed us..

@UCSFMemoryandAging Agreed. We tried everything with my mother, even before she was diagnosed with CJD. 15 neurologists and 15 psychiatrists told us she had a "brain glitch." This disease needs to be talked about more often. Period. Thank you for this video.
Try people on a balanced amino acid therapy (supplements) and it will eventually cure them. This is a central nervous system disease.
See neuroreplete (dot) com (I'm not affiliated with them).

@violetgypsie To date, unfortunately, there are no treatments or dietary supplements that have been shown to be effective against prion disease.
