Hi there, I'm using Sony DCR-SX30 camecorder, I'm wondering how can I put mic into my camera, as there is only USB cable to conect the computer? Looking forward to your reply.

i was hoping this would go over the different types of microphones. i'm a little foggy on the benefits and drawbacks between lavalier, shotgun and condenser mics, and those are the only ones i'm even aware of. as far as i can tell just on the shape and name, lavalier is only good because it's discreet and can get the closest to a person's voice by being clipped on, shotgun is good if you want to isolate other noises and want just incoming noise, and condenser is the best all around but chunky?

@Ludwigzildjian1 You aren't just stuck with the internal mic, you can use a external recorder (Zoom H4n) or even a laptop.

@TheMovieMakingGirl you can use audio swap on youtube. basically it's a bunch of music artists have made availaible for use in youtube videos. also, if you don't mentize your videos or get paid for them in any other way, then youtube shouldn't care if you use copyrighted material
